The wife became angry with her husband's mother and left the dining table, leaving the old woman sitting alone. The husband, puzzled, got up to find out why.The husband asked, "Why did you leave the table? Is there something you didn't like?"The wife replied, "Yes, I feel that your mother's hands are dirty, and it ruined my appetite!"The husband responded, "Oh, that's why you left. Well, what do you think we should do, my love? I'll do whatever you suggest."The wife said, "She should have her own table to eat at because I won't be sitting at the same table with her anymore."The husband replied, "Alright, my dear, from now on, she will have her own table, I promise. But it seems that you’re uncomfortable with her being here with us, isn’t that right? Or is it just her hands that bother you?"The wife admitted, "Honestly, her entire presence makes me uncomfortable, and I can't feel at peace in my own home."The husband said, "As you know, she has no one else but me, and she is an elderly woman. What do you think the solution should be?"The wife suggested, "The solution is simple: take her to a nursing home. You can visit her and take care of her, and the problem will be solved. Otherwise, I will go back to my parents' house and won’t return."The husband responded, "Alright, my dear, whatever makes you happy. I'll take her to a nursing home as you suggested; it's a great idea, and I like it." He smiled at her and then said, "But by the way, do you know why your father called and asked us to visit him tomorrow?"The wife replied, "Because I asked him to."The husband asked, "For what reason, my love?"The wife responded, "You'll find out tomorrow when we go. For now, I want to sleep."The husband said, "Alright, my dear, sleep well."He then left their room and went to his elderly mother. The mother asked, "What is it, my son? Is your wife sick since she didn’t eat?"The son replied, "Yes, mother, she's not feeling well."The mother said, "Then go sit with her! Go and get her a doctor or buy her some medicine. It's not right for her to go to bed hungry and sick."The son reassured her, "No, mother, she's not that sick. She'll rest a bit and then eat. Don't worry."The mother sighed with relief, "If that's the case, I'm glad to hear she's okay. May God protect you all, my children."The son added, "Amen, mother. Tomorrow, I'll take you somewhere where everything will change."The mother, curious, asked, "Where are we going, my heartbeat?"The son replied, "You'll find out tomorrow, but I need you not to object or scold me for what I'm going to do."The mother said, "You're making me anxious, my son, but I won’t press you to tell me more, as I trust you'll act wisely."The son said, "May God keep you and protect you, mother."The next day arrives...At ten in the morning, the husband, his wife, and his mother went to the wife's family, responding to the invitation her father had extended to them. The husband took his mother despite his wife's objections, reassuring her that he would take care of her as they had agreed after the visit. The wife accepted and they went.Upon arriving at the wife's family's home, they were warmly welcomed, and they exchanged pleasantries. As the call to prayer for noon sounded, they all prayed together. While waiting for the food to be prepared and served, the wife's father spoke to the husband privately. The wife's father said, "Honestly, I have an important matter to discuss, and that’s why I called you. As you know, I only have one daughter who is dear to my heart, and I can't refuse her anything she asks for. She called me in a terrible state, upset because your mother lives with you in your home. She has the right to be alone in her home, and I fully agree with her request. You need to act quickly and find a solution, or else my daughter will not return with you, and that's my final word."The husband replied, "Oh, so that's all there is to it? You're only here to talk about my mother? Fine, I’ve already agreed with her that I'll take my mother to a nursing home after we finish this visit."The wife's father said, "Alright, if that's what you've agreed on, then the matter is resolved, thank God."The husband affirmed, "Absolutely." Then, the food was served, and everyone in the family gathered at the table, except for the husband's mother. The wife whispered in her husband's ear, "Your mother is eating in that room, so don’t worry about her, my love."The husband asked, "Did you tell her to eat alone in that room?"The wife confirmed, "Yes."The husband looked around at the family members at the table, and before they could start eating, he said, "Honestly, I can't eat with you," and then stood up.He continued, "Do you know why? Because your hands are as dirty as your hearts."Everyone was shocked by his words, and the wife's father asked, "What are you talking about?"The husband looked at his wife and said, "Your heart is burning like a volcano because I said that. Well, that’s how my heart felt yesterday when you said that about my mother." He then looked at her parents and said, "You invite me here to find a solution to get rid of my mother, to throw her out as if she means nothing. Just because your daughter asked you to, you think I should follow her lead. But if one day your daughter grows up, and your granddaughter feels the same way about you and throws you out, how will you feel then? How sad I am for a family that has revealed its true nature."He called his mother, and she came out, unaware of what had transpired. He ran towards her, tears streaming down his face, and kissed her hands and forehead, then knelt down eagerly to kiss her feet.He stood up, holding her hands, and said, "Let's go, mother, let's go."The mother asked, "Where to, my son?"The son replied, "To heaven. Take me to heaven, mother, with your blessings," as he hugged her tightly. He then turned to his wife's family and said, "Paradise is for me, and your worldly life is for you," implying that he was leaving his wife.He continued, "Remember your mother staying up all night when you were sick. Remember your mother worrying when you were late coming home. Remember your mother when you traveled, and she prayed for your safety with tears in her eyes. No one is as happy as she is when you return home. When you enter the house, the first thing you ask is, 'Where is my mother?'"
